PLASTIC PARTS FOR AN ELECTRIC SCREWDRIVER FOR SURGICAL USE
A developer of innovative equipment for cosmetic surgery.
We were requested to build a delicate surgical screwdriver, part of a very complex product for use in the OR. The product was being submitted for CE marking, and we were faced with a tight deadline to complete models. We were also required to work in a clean room environment.
We started off by reviewing product design, as given to us by our client, and based on our experience with plastic injection molding identified several problems in product planning and design. Next, we made recommendations that made production easier and improved the quality of the final product. The result was a set of 11 parts made from a range of materials — ABS, PA, PC — which together with electric accessories formed a perfect surgical screwdriver.
Our subsidiary in China produced the molds, and within 6 weeks provided our client with 70 sets to submit to the CE. After the CE approval was granted, we manufactured 500 sets in our clean room facilities, including tampon printing.
